Salt Cay Divers

Prior to a ban on whale fishing in 1985, humpback whale were drastically reduced by 95% for some breeds. Approximately, 14 distinct populations exist now where 12 are at or above 2,000 whales with the other two below 2,000 whales. Humans truly are the only ones to pose a threat to whales in general. Fish nets, plastics, oil spills, unlawful poaching, the list goes on the vast ways we destroy the lives of whales, let alone their existence. All while, whales are a crucial part of our marine ecosystem especially in one major way for us humans in that they provide over half of our oxygen! Fucking nuts right! I know. I felt the same. We need to do better for them, as they do their most for us… Salt Cay is one of the few places around the world you can swim with the whales from afar and if they come to you, it is magical. Diving with these beautiful creatures is a lifetime dream, and will continue to be just that. It never gets old…
